On-site, after-school care is provided by Shades of Development and begins immediately after dismissal. Families may also choose from additional programs offered in the community.

After School Care
Shades of Development is Karns Elementary's only on-site after-care provider, but several other organizations offer pickup and transportation to off-site programs.

Extracurricular Activities
Karns Elementary provides a variety of after-school programs and extracurricular clubs. These opportunities allow students to extend their learning beyond the classroom, connect with classmates who share their interests, and discover new talents.

Student Supports
The entire staff of Karns Elementary School is committed to establishing an atmosphere in which children will feel safe, secure, and happy so they maximize their opportunities to learn and achieve. The school has trained counselors and social workers on staff.

Library / Media Center
Karns Elementary is proud to have two wonderful libraries—our East Library for K–2 students and our West Library for grades 3–5. Each space is designed with our learners in mind, offering books and resources that match their interests and growing skills. In addition to these welcoming libraries, many teachers also have their own classroom libraries, giving students even more opportunities to discover stories they love.
Parent Teacher Organization
The Karns Elementary PTO (Parent Teacher Organization) is a non-profit organization dedicated to uniting the efforts of home, school, and community on behalf of our children and youth.
