About Us
Located in Board of Education District 6 and KCS Region 2, Karns Elementary School is a vibrant learning community dedicated to fostering academic excellence, creativity, and character development in every student.
Karns Elementary sits on land that was once part of a farming community where the area's first school was built in 1868—a simple log house near Beaver Creek. This building was named after Professor T.C. Karns, the first Superintendent of Public Instruction in Knox County. Today, the school serves over 900 students, continuing a long tradition of education in the heart of the Karns community.
Karns Elementary is committed to growing lifelong learners who contribute their talents, strengths and skills to build a stronger community.
